I have been reading with great interest about the harmful practices of the food industry and how they are systematically jeopardizing our health all in the name of increased profits. I have enjoyed reading Dr. Mark Hyman’s blogs about the topic and would like to share a couple of articles he’s written. These are http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/diet-soda-health_b_2698494.html and http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/food-industry_b_1559920.html. Additionally I have read a synopsis of a new book entitled Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us by Michael Moss which investigates the food processing industry and it’s push for profits despite the (suppressed) evidence of the markedly dangerous effects on the populace. Hope to read this in it’s entirety soon.
We all need to become enlightened about this progressive and worsening epidemic of obesity, diabetes and overall poor health that has developed in the US and abroad. We, the citizens, have the power to overcome this by changing our overall approach to eating and focusing on whole and natural foods. Having fought weight battles my whole life, I am certain that I have been a “subject” in this experiment by the food industry and will fight to overcome it. I will write of my experiences and any progress I make, in future posts.
