Family Physicians are highly trained at recognizing and diagnosing mental health problems. Very often, patients are reluctant to seek out mental health professionals, due to a variety of factors including fear, cost, lack of insurance coverage, and the inherent nature of the illness, which often inhibits the patient to seek help. Patients frequently feel more comfortable talking about these issues with their family doctor, whom they have known for years, in many cases. For this reason, family physicians are often at the forefront of diagnosing and managing these problems for their patients. We provide:

  • History and physical examination
  • Relevant Testing
  • Diagnosis
  • Treatment (in many cases)
  • Referral to mental health professionals

We frequently encourage our patients to utilize the many avenues available for professional help to assist with the management of these complex issues.
